Endorsements of Proven Performance
It was one of the best concerts I've attended in my many years as a Minnesota Orchestra subscriber. The musicians of the Ukrainian Global Symphony were great and the conductor was amazing. I was saddened that the Orchestra Hall was not packed to the brim, since the music and the performance were top-notch. Hopefully there will be more concerts like this one. Thank you, Nickolai!

I am so proud to know Nickolai S. Podvin! A brilliant conductor and musician! It was a privilege to see this concert last weekend and it was a very moving performance and experience. Very impressive. Thank you, Nickolai!
Joshua Pierskalla“Sights and Sounds of Freedom — Liatoshynsky Lives Again!” at Minnesota Orchestra was so much more than beautiful music. It was a powerful reminder that Ukraine’s music, history, culture and voice must continue to be heard.
What touched me most was the dedication of this concert to the soldiers and to the men, women and children whose lives have been taken by this unjust war.
The empty chair draped in the Ukrainian flag among the musicians was a powerful and heartbreaking symbol. It represented those we have lost, those who are missing, and all the lives interrupted — reminding us that they are still with us.
A very special and heartfelt thank you to Maestro Nickolai S. Podvin
Nickolai, you made this happen. Your vision, dedication and love for Ukrainian music brought together this incredible orchestra and created a performance that was so much more than a concert. You gave these composers a voice, brought their music to the stage, and created a space where Ukraine could be heard and remembered.
Concertmaster Stephanie Arado — your artistry and musicianship were truly exceptional.
Guest Soloist Matt Haimovitz — what an incredible performance, including the Minnesota premiere of Thomas de Hartmann’s Cello Concerto (1935). It was a privilege to hear such extraordinary musicianship.
And thank you to all the musicians who gave their talent, passion and heart to this very special project.
Thank you to everyone who made this special evening possible.
May music turn grief into strength, remembrance into hope, and pain into a determination for peace.
Ukraine Defiant. Ukraine Strong.
Slava Ukraini!
Viktoriya KantorThis is so wonderful and I’m honored to be included in such a significant concert. Bravo!
